BKC Performance Title Scoring Guide
(Applies to Obedience, Protection, Weight Pull, Agility & Other Competitive Sports)
I. General Guidelines
1. Eligibility
o Dog must be BKC-registered.
o Minimum age: 12 months (unless specified otherwise).
o All handlers must be BKC members in good standing.
o All events must be sanctioned by BKC and judged by certified performance judges.
2. Titles & Progression
Titles are earned based on point accumulation and qualifying scores. Most events offer titles in three levels:
o Novice (N)
o Intermediate (I)
o Advanced (A) or Elite (E)

Titles:
· AG-N, AG-I, AG-A
III. Awarding Titles
· Titles are granted after three qualifying runs or scores (minimum pass threshold varies by sport).
· Dogs may compete for higher titles after achieving lower-level certification.
· Combined Event Titles may be awarded for dogs who earn titles in 3 or more performance categories (e.g., PTCH – Performance Champion).
IV. Disqualification or Penalties
· Harsh handling = immediate DQ
· Loss of control = score drop or disqualification
· Aggression toward humans or dogs = barred from event and possible ethics review
· False starts or missed exercises = point deductions
V. Performance Title Registry & Recognition
· All earned titles will be recorded on the dog’s official BKC record.
· Titleholders receive digital and print certificates.
· High-scoring dogs will be featured in the BKC’s Year-End Honors List.
