Constitution of The Bloodlines Kennel Club (BKC)

Article I: BLOODLINES KENNEL CLUB

The name of this organization shall be The Bloodlines Kennel Club, hereinafter referred to as The BKC.

Article II: Purpose

The purpose of The BKC shall be to:

1.      Promote and encourage ethical dog breeding practices.

2.      Maintain a registry of purebred and designer breeds with verified lineages.

3.      Provide standardized breed recognition and guidance for member breeders and dog owners.

4.      Organize shows, trials, and events for the appreciation, exhibition, and testing of registered dogs.

5.      Educate the public on responsible dog ownership, health, and training.

Article III: Membership

Section 1: Eligibility
Membership is open to any individual, kennel, or breeder who supports the purposes of The BKC and agrees to abide by its rules and code of ethics.

Section 2: Categories of Membership

·         Individual Member – a single breeder or dog owner.

·         Kennel Member – a licensed kennel with multiple breeding operations.

·         Honorary Member – conferred for exceptional service or contribution to the dog breeding world.

·         Junior Member – individuals under 18 interested in canine sports or breeding.

Section 3: Rights of Members

·         Right to vote (except Junior and Honorary members).

·         Right to register dogs with The BKC.

·         Right to participate in BKC-sanctioned events and activities.

·         Right to receive newsletters, updates, and invitations.

Section 4: Membership Revocation
Membership may be suspended or revoked for violation of BKC’s Code of Ethics or upon conviction of animal cruelty or fraud related to breeding or registration.

Article IV: Governance

Section 1: Board of Directors
The governing body of The BKC shall consist of:

·         President

·         Vice President

·         Secretary

·         Treasurer

·         Registrar

·         Up to 5 Regional Representatives

Section 2: Elections
Board members shall be elected every 3 years by majority vote of eligible members.

Section 3: Duties

·         President: Oversees all operations and chairs meetings.

·         Vice President: Assists the President and assumes duties when absent.

·         Secretary: Maintains meeting records and correspondence.

·         Treasurer: Manages finances and annual reports.

·         Registrar: Oversees the dog registry and pedigree validations.

Article V: Meetings

·         Annual General Meeting (AGM): Held once per year to review progress, elect officers, and propose amendments.

·         Board Meetings: Held quarterly or as necessary.

·         Special Meetings: May be called by the President or a majority of Board members.

Article VI: Registration Guidelines

1.      All registrations must include documented lineage, health records, and photographs.

2.      Dogs must meet breed standards established by The BKC.

3.      Fraudulent registrations are grounds for permanent ban from The BKC.

Article VII: Code of Ethics

Members must:

·         Prioritize animal welfare in all breeding and training practices.

·         Avoid inbreeding, overbreeding, or unethical crossbreeding.

·         Disclose known health issues in breeding stock.

·         Maintain sanitary and humane conditions for all dogs.

Article VIII: Amendments

This Constitution may be amended at any AGM by a two-thirds vote of eligible members present, provided the proposed amendment has been submitted in writing at least 30 days in advance.

Article IX: Dissolution

Upon dissolution of The BKC, any remaining assets shall be donated to a recognized animal welfare organization.
