Bloodlines Kennel Club Commission: Roles & Responsibilities

The Commission of the Bloodlines Kennel Club (BKC) serves as the authoritative body responsible for upholding the integrity, consistency, and excellence of the American Bully breed under BKC governance. The Commission shall operate under the following duties:

1. Breed Standard Enforcement

  • Evaluate and certify dogs presented for registration or competition to ensure conformity to the official BKC American Bully breed standard.

  • Provide clarification and interpretation of the standard as necessary for breeders, judges, and show participants.

  • Periodically review and update the breed standard in response to developments in breed health, ethics, or consensus among experts.

2. Dog Certification and Registration Oversight

  • Review applications and physical evaluations for the certification of American Bullies as meeting breed standard.

  • Supervise official temperament and conformation testing where applicable.

  • Maintain records of certified dogs and issue official documentation reflecting status and qualifications.

3. Show & Event Regulation

  • Approve and sanction official BKC dog shows, trials, and exhibitions.

  • Establish rules for ring conduct, judging criteria, scoring systems, and placement awards.

  • Monitor judges' compliance with BKC policies and breed standard fidelity.

4. Judicial and Ethical Oversight

  • Investigate violations of BKC rules, ethical concerns, or misconduct by breeders, owners, handlers, or judges.

  • Render disciplinary decisions when necessary, including suspensions, fines, or revocation of certification.

  • Protect the welfare of dogs and integrity of competition through strict adherence to humane practices.

5. Education & Guidance

  • Develop educational materials and workshops on the American Bully breed, breeding ethics, judging, and dog care.

  • Act as a resource for new breeders and members seeking clarity on conformation, health testing, or performance standards.

6. Breed Development & Preservation

  • Promote the health, genetic diversity, and temperament of the American Bully through informed breeding advocacy.

  • Support studies and initiatives related to hereditary disease prevention, structure, and breed improvement.

  • Encourage responsible breeding practices and discourage exploitative or detrimental trends.

7. Membership & Appeals

  • Review applications for advanced breeder recognition or special status within the BKC.

  • Hear appeals from members regarding decisions on certification, show outcomes, or disciplinary actions.

  • Maintain a fair, transparent process for dispute resolution.
